ARMENIA’S LARGEST ROOFTOP SOLAR POWER PLANT HAS BEEN PUT INTO OPERATION

24.08.2018

Within the framework of “Renewable Energy” project funded by "ARMSWISSBANK" CJSC and partnering with "Shtigen Energy Company", "Getamej" poultry farm installed a 237.6 kW solar powered (photovoltaic) power plant.

It is planned to generate electricity worth more than AMD 16 million’s equivalent annually, which will result in averting the emission of 160 tons of carbon dioxide into the environment.

From the first month of its installation, the amount of electricity generated by the company’s power station has exceeded the monthly repayment amount by double the monthly loan repayment amount. Funding was provided without additional collateral burden, and the acquired property serves as loan collateral. Moreover, this station is the largest rooftop solar power station in Armenia.

"Getamej" poultry farm has begun its activities since 1958 and during these 60 years it has gained a high reputation as poultry farm which produces selected high quality pedigree breed poultry.

After being re-launched in 2018, “Getamej” poultry farm has set a goal to develop a culture of production which will definitely contribute to the preservation of the environment and the production of ecologically clean poultry. For this purpose, parallel to the solar power plant, which will provide about 60% of the company's demand, the poultry farm already has hot water supply generated from the solar energy as well. At the same time, the “Getamej” poultry farm birds are fed with natural nutritional supplements with no antibiotics, are under strict supervision, and fed only with healthy vegetal food.

The company “Shtigen Energy Systems” was founded in 2011 by Hayk Shekyan, a Renewable Energy expert. The company specializes in solar energy solutions. “Shtigen” electric power generating stations are accessible both for the public and businessmen alike. The solar water heating systems are accessible both for the public and for different businesses that have the need for hot water, including boiling temperature water in their production process. So far the company has installed more than 5.5 MW capacity power plants and about 7 MW-peak power plants throughout Armenia and Artsakh.

"ARMSWISSBANK" CJSC was established in 2004 and operates in the market of corporate, investment and mortgage banking. Within the framework of corporate banking services, the Bank is also actively engaged in the financing of renewable energy production projects in Armenia's economy. Collaborating with a number of financial and private organizations, the Bank has funded major projects for renewable energy production, hydropower plants and solar power plants. Currently, the Bank offers 5.5% and 8.5% loan products for up to 12 years in US dollars and AMD respectively for the solar power station installation. The use of these credit programs enables organizations to ensure energy independence, thus preventing the creation of furthur leakages in their cash flows.
